Church groups

Our church offers a variety of groups designed to help people deepen their faith, find fellowship and support one another in daily life. Whether you’re interested in exploring the Bible more closely, joining in musical worship, taking part in seasonal reflections such as Lent or offering and receiving pastoral support, there’s a place for you here. Each group offers a warm welcome and the chance to grow within our church community.

Click the sections below to find out more about each group and how you can get involved.

Ladies' group

We are a group of ladies who enjoy meeting together once a month to listen to guest speakers, or take part in a quiz night. We also have an annual Christmas Party which we all look forward to. We go on outings to theatres and enjoy country rambles in fine weather. Please phone for more details or come and join us.

During the season of Lent, there are seven or eight groups which meet at different people’s homes. The groups discuss and think upon spiritual subjects. This is a friendly, warm way of meeting people and sharing our faith. All are welcome.

Music group

We are a mixed bunch of folks with a love of music and an interest in learning new hymns and choruses. We sing during communion on the 2nd and 4th Sundays, hoping to introduce new hymns to the Church family. We would love to welcome any new voices and also any instrumentalists, whatever instrument it might be.

Pastoral care group

This small group of volunteers meet and communicate regularly to catch up on the progress of people we have been asked to support and to think about different ways we might show care to our church family and beyond.

Some of the things we do:

  • Send cards to people to let them know we are thinking of them.
It might be that they are unwell or bereaved, or they are celebrating a marriage or a new child or a significant birthday or anniversary. We send cards to families who have had a baptism, wedding or funeral in church for a year afterwards.
  • Visit or call people who are isolated or having a difficult time.
We can also arrange for someone to bring communion to your home if you would find that helpful.
  • Pray for people
We have both long term and emergency prayer systems. We also collect prayer shawls knitted by members of our congregation and distribute them to people needing to know they are loved.
  • Keep in touch with church members who are housebound

We are only as good as the information we are given, so please PLEASE let us know if you or someone you know is in need of some support and care.

Ponderings and Prayers

Twice a month, we meet to discuss the Bible readings from the previous Sunday and think about how they apply to our lives. After our conversation, we spend a little while in quiet prayer and reflection.

This is an open group where anybody is welcome to turn up when they can. Different perspectives, different life experiences, different questions – all add to the richness of our discussions!

Reading group

We are a group who enjoy reading and sharing our views on the allocated book for the month. We read books we may not have chosen ourselves, which gives us a wider look at different styles and stories. We are not avid readers, but enjoy “a good book and a natter”. Anyone is welcome to join us.
