Today we were delighted to gather for our patronal celebration, giving thanks for St Paul, after whom our church is named. Patronal festivals are an important moment in the life of a church: a chance to reflect on the faith, witness and legacy of the saint who continues to shape our identity and calling.

During the service, Rev Ian preached on the conversion of St Paul, focusing particularly on the role of Ananias. Through this story, we were reminded that God works through ordinary people as well as dramatic moments, and that faith can sometimes involve stepping into situations that feel new, stretching or unexpected. It was an encouraging reflection on how God continues to shape and guide communities today.

Our worship was followed by a bring-and-share lunch, which gave us a chance to enjoy good food and good company together. These shared meals are an important part of our life as a church, and it was good to see people staying to talk and enjoy being together over food.

Next Sunday we will be celebrating Candlemas, the feast that marks the presentation of Jesus in the Temple. At Candlemas, we remember Simeon and Anna recognising Jesus as the fulfilment of God’s promises, and we give thanks for Christ as the light of the world. The feast also brings the Christmas season to a close. As always, you are welcome to join us as we gather for worship at 10am on Wednesday and 8am and 10am on Sunday.
