PCC News – March 2017

The PCC met on Wednesday 8th March 2017 and the following items were discussed.

Safeguarding – an in-house training session for working with vulnerable adults is being arranged for 13th June 2017. Further details will be advertised nearer the time.

Foundation Governor – after 20 years service, Margaret Bone is standing down from her role as foundation governor. The PCC are pleased to announce that Karen Harris is taking up role.

Lay Reader – Chris Jones has asked the PCC if she could register as Lay Reader for St. Paul’s. The PCC had no objection and look forward to Chris joining the team.

Deanery Synod rep – There is a vacancy for a Deanery Synod rep for St. Paul’s. If anyone would like to take up this position, please speak with either David Spiers or Chris Smith and complete a nomination form in time for the APCM.

PCC Member Election – Nomination forms will be available on the foyer table for anyone wishing to be either re-elected or elected for the first time as a PCC member. If you have any questions, please speak to either the Wardens or Kate and forms need to be returned to Joanna before the APCM.

Job Club – Although funding is sadly no longer available to cover the cost of Kay to run the Job Club, Kay has kindly offered to continue on a voluntary basis, and the PCC has agreed to cover the cost of using the Parish Centre. As this is a valuable and well-used resource, our thanks are expressed to Kay for this offer.

Notice Board – A working party has been setup to organise the sourcing and installation of a new external notice board. The new notice board is to send out a positive message that we are St. Pauls, a busy welcoming vibrant Church, why not come in and see.

Path – Work on the path from the gate to the Church has now been approved and will soon be underway. Disruption will be kept to a minimum.

Balcony Seating – New permanent seating has been sourced for the balcony and will be installed ASAP. This will enable more people to use the balcony at busy times and will free up more folding chairs for use within the Church.

Easter Cards – The Pastoral Care group will be sending out Easter cards to various members of the parish. If you know of anyone that you think should be sent a card, please speak to any member of the Pastoral Care team.

Murder Mystery – The social committee are organising a Murder Mystery evening for Christian Aid. This will be on Saturday 20th May. More information will be advertised in due course.

Friday Night Drop-in – New volunteers are needed to run the group due to expanding numbers of children wanting to attend. If you are interested, please speak to David Spiers.

APCM – Will be held on Wednesday 26th April after Quiet Communion. All are welcome. Report books will be available prior to the meeting. There will also follow a short PCC meeting to elect various roles.
