PCC Minutes – April 2010

The PCC met 14 April, when the following items were discussed:

Election of Officers: The following PCC members were elected

Treasurer Gary King, Secretary Anne Murray, Covenant Secretary Pail West, Electoral Roll Officer Anne Murray

Christian Aid Week 9-15 May – £180 already donated by Sewing Circle. Concert and Supper arranged for 23 April, DVD would be shown on 25 April. The week would start with Bread and Soup lunch on 9 May after service and hopefully other members of congregation would arrange similar lunches throughout the week.. Street collections to be arranged with teams of about 6 working together with leaders/coordinators. List for volunteers to be put in foyer. Anne Vincent to arrange a collection walk with other churches. SPOGS would have a food evening 8 May and Cake Sale on 9 May.

Finance: Giving in enveloped up slightly, Fabric Fund had increased. Awaiting payment of gift aid claim. Gas bill to be sorted out. Harvest collection for Chile still to be paid but communications difficult due to earthquake. Projection system a priority and furniture manufacturers to be contacted regarding altar furniture, to have some idea of costs. CUF funding acquired for Oasis group and further Workcare sessions.

In view of increased use of Centre and Church a cleaner may be required to be employed and this would be looked into further.

Management Groups:

Buildings and Finance – no meeting

Pastoral and Social – Food parcels not requested recently. Events most moths, Summer bay Trip planned for August to Thorsby Hall. Murder Mystery evening planned for September 17, another Ladies Evening in 2011.

Worship and Spirituality: No meeting

Mission and Outreach: No meeting


Youth Drop-in Club started on Tuesday evenings and Youth Club Friday evenings. Rota of helpers to be prepared.

Architect requested to apply for planning permission for store to rear of church.

Child Protection – Certificates requiring renewal this year would be regarded as valid as new Home Off ice rules to change system in 2011.
