PCC Minutes – February 2010

The PCC met 10 February, when the following items were discussed:

Christian Aid Week 9-16 May – Mick was very keen to make a real difference this year to people’s lives, having watched a film about Nairobi and the slum dwellers there. He hoped to encourage the entire congregation to take part by having groups making street collections, with all ages involved. There were also various ideas muted for events such as a Curry Evening, Pool Tournament, Plant sale and refreshments, coffee mornings etc. To be discussed further at next meeting.

Finance: There had been an increase in envelope giving but an income of £745 per week was required to cover the Parish Share payable to the Diocese. £2500 insurance premium had been paid and it was possible to repay loan from Fabric Fund. Rank had advised that pension contributions should be started for Kim and their further advice would be sought. Architect to visit next week to sign off snag list work. It was felt we could now move forward to source some of the outstanding furniture required from the original reordering and a local joiner would be contacted to get some idea of costs, etc. so that a priority list could be prepared.

CUF and Coalfields Regeneration grants had been applied for, for Mental Health Drop-In and further WorkCare events.

Management Groups:

Buildings and Finance – no meeting

Pastoral and Social – no meeting

Worship and Spirituality: Lent course planned, Good Friday workshops and Summer talks discussed

Mission and Outreach: Awaiting further information on Ford Festival, review of events, encouraging number of church volunteers, for Drop-ins, Credit Union, etc.

AOB

Youth Drop-in Club to start 17 April 7-9 p.m.

Architect to be asked to prepare plans for store-room to mirror boiler room and creche extension. Planning permission required but additional storage space becoming very necessary as church use increased by a number of outside organisations.

Eco-congregation – now in a position to move forward with application. Hopefully 2011 could see start of Breathing Spaces programme for churchyard.

Child Protection – Certificates requiring renewal this year.
